What is right colic?

The right colic, also known as the hepatic flexure, is the portion of the colon located in the upper-right quadrant of the abdominal cavity. It connects the ascending colon to the transverse colon. The right colic artery supplies blood to this part of the colon, and the right colic vein drains blood from it. The right colic is susceptible to various medical conditions, such as colonic diverticulitis, colon cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. Symptoms of right colic issues include pain in the upper-right abdomen, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea. Treatment will depend on the underlying condition and may involve medication, surgery, or dietary changes.
